Review Topic: Adjustment of Status

We had out interview on December 19th 11am. The officer was really nice but straight forward. We were well prepared which I think the officer liked a lot and made the interview nice and smooth. She looked at pictures and asked a few questions where they were taken. Also she asked where we got married. We brought our guest book from the wedding which she enjoyed looking at Then took biometrics and asked my husband standard questions like full name, DOB, full address. Same with me. Then she went trough the questions on the I-485. After that she approved our application and I got a temporary stamp in my passport. I would give a 5-star-rating if we wouldn't have to wait more then an hour until we got called in for the interview.

Review Topic: Adjustment of Status

We arrived about 15 mins before our 11am appt in Norfolk, VA. They called us back to a private room about 11:15. She had us raise our right hands and swear in. The first thing she asked is if we had any evidence to present to support our marriage. I brought joint phone bill, rental lease with both our names, joint car insurance, my life insurance with him listed as the beneficiary. She didn't even glance at them or blink an eye. She was just staring at us saying "uh huh... ok.. what else" (talk about intimidating) then she asked for pictures to add to our file and all i had was our wedding album and a screenshot of our photographers blog. So she seemed kind of annoyed and asked to look through our album. Then she started asking about the timeline of our entire relationship and the dates of life events like cancer and the death of his dad.. (?) She continued looking through our album and said she rarely sees actual weddings rather than a courthouse style wedding. She started to tear up... read complete review

Review Topic: Adjustment of Status

We arrived 20 mins early for our interview and once again went thorough security, same guys again weren't exactly friendly, they seem to hate their jobs, but as husband and I were prepared with no phones, minimal items with us etc we got through without much interaction.

We were then sent to a waiting room upstairs where we waited around 15 mins before Officer Berwick came out and took us to an interview room. Overall it was pretty straightforward process, she was pleasant, asked for any further evidence we had which I presented, then asked some questions on photos and identifying people and place to my husband. Most of the interview was around the I485 questions for me and then G325 for both of us.

We were then told we were approved and I was given a letter.

Only giving a 4 as although it went smooth it still is quite a formal and daunting experience, but overall we left both thinking we would have been 'grilled' a lot more.

Review Topic: Employment Authorization

Overall very easy and pleasant experience for my biometrics appointment.

I was in and out in around 10 - 15 mins, only 1 other person there in front of me. The guy who took my photo and fingerprints was very friendly and chatty and made the whole process easy.

I am only giving a 4 due to the rudeness of security towards my elderly in laws. As I can't drive yet they took me to my appointment, my father in law is almost 80 and early stages of dementia, it was 90 degrees outside and I had no idea how low I would be, so asking them to sit in car was unthinkable. He is a navy vet with 20 years service and was treated with utter contempt by security even though we were only 3 ppl in line at time and there were 4 of them just standing around, a lot of tutting and eye rolling as he was slow and can get confused. Also they were raising voice and sniggering and making him feel like he was doing something wrong. I told my husband about it afterwards and he was disgu... read complete review
